A subdomain is part of a web address that's under the main domain, such as name.example.com. Technically, even in www.example.com the "www" part is a subdomain because the fully qualified domain name is only "example.com". Every subdomain can have its own site and records and can also be hosted with a different company if you want to use a specific feature which isn't offered by your current service provider. One example for using a subdomain is if you have a business website as well as an online store under a subdomain where customers can purchase your products. You can even have a forum in which they can discuss the products and by using subdomains instead of subfolders you are going to avoid any chance of all sites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping the sites separated is less risky in case there is a script security breach.

Subdomains in Website Hosting

When you use website hosting packages you're going to be able to create subdomains with a couple of clicks in your hosting CP. All of them are going to be listed in one location along with the domains hosted in the account and arranged under their own domain in order to make their managing easier. No matter the plan that you choose, you will be able to create hundreds of subdomains and set their access folder or set up custom error pages during the process. Additionally, you will have access to numerous functions for any of them with only a click, so from the exact same section in which you create them you can access their DNS records, files, visitor statistics, etc. As opposed to other companies, we haven't limited the number of subdomains that you can have even if you host one domain within the account.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our semi-dedicated servers do not have a set limit for the number of subdomains that you can create. Adding a new subdomain in the account takes just a couple of clicks inside the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and in the process you can choose the folder the subdomain is going to access if it will be different from the default one, create tailor-made error pages, enable FrontPage Extensions if you need them or create a dedicated IP address rather than the shared server one if you have added this upgrade to your semi-dedicated account. After the subdomain is created, you will be able to access logs and visitor statistics or you can swiftly jump to the website files for it in the File Manager section using instant access buttons. All subdomains you've got within the account are going to be conveniently listed under their root domain, so you will be able to find and handle any one of them effortlessly.
